Physician Associates is a leading private multi specialty practice operating for more than 50 years. Our mission is to provide high quality healthcare to our patients. We serve the Maryland, Washington and Northern Virginia area from two convenient locations, Rockville and Chevy Chase.
We are seeking a fulltime Medical Assistant to become a part of our team! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly. This position will be floating between medical assistant and receptionist based on the needs of the day.
Responsibilities:
- Perform clinical intake including but not limited to obtaining patient's medical history, current medication, and chief complaints; Obtain vital signs and record information within EHR system
- Perform diagnostic tests including electrocardiograph
- Perform patient's callbacks, generate referrals, test orders and schedule appointments
- Administer medications, vaccines, and dress/bandage wounds and assist providers with any procedure
- Process specimens to send out to labs and perform ear lavage
- Monitor disposable inventory, medical supplies, and pharmaceuticals
- Assist front desk with patient registration and perform additional clerical duties as needed.
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications and procedures
Qualifications:
- Certification as Medical Assistant is preferred; High School diploma or GED is required
- Previous experience in healthcare administration or other related fields
- Medical terminology proficient, verbal and written communication skills
- Basic Computer skills and working knowledge of electronic medical records
- Ability to escort or transport patient by wheelchair when appropriate
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Flexibility to float between our offices
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
