Medical Billing & Coding Specialist
Job Description
Hopefield Healthcare Services is searching for a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to work inside the office on a part-time basis. Hopefield is a mental health clinic focusing on addiction medicine, Spravato, TMS and counseling/therapy for adolescents and adults. Located at 30 Sandstone Circle, Jackson, TN; Hopefield provides specialized services for patients that suffer from mental health issues. Virtual visits are available. Hopefield is searching for a highly skilled individual to transition Billing and build a framework for in-house billing.
Skills
- Experience with MS Office 365, EMR and other technology platforms as needed.
- Excellent communication with insurance companies and all parties as needed.
- Send billing statements to patients and reconcile accounts.
- Verify copays and deductibles for patients.
- Post payments and denials.
- File secondary claims properly.
- Experience collaborating with EAP and insurance companies to ensure proper payments.
- Assist management with tracking of data for reconciliation of accounts.
- Produce reports for management.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Time management mindset.
- Ability to transition from one billing company to in-house billing.
- Self motivated to accomplish tasks and projects as a self-starter with little guidance.
Knowledge
- Medical Billing and Coding.
- Ability to reconcile and track claims for proper payment and for denials.
- Coordinate with all office staff, management, insurance companies and patients.
- Understand importance of HIPPA.
- Medical terminology, ICD-10 and HCSPCS codes.
- Rules and regulations of billing.
- Compliance with all standards and best practices for Billing and Coding.
- Understand HIPAA compliance is of the utmost importance.
- Insurance credentialing a plus.
Requirements
- Two to four years of experience in Medical Billing and Coding.
- Mental health billing experience preferred.
- HS Diploma or GED required.
- Certification from an accredited institution for coding and billing preferred.
- Associate’s degree or other post-secondary education preferred.
- EMR experience required.
- Office Ally experience preferred; however, experience with EMR’s acceptable.
- Ability to understand the importance of being a leader, not just an employee.
- Understand EAP and track number of visits per patient’s insurance.
- Understand importance of timely filing of all claims.
- Excellent communication and collaborative mindset with all parties involved.
- Must pass a urine drug screen test and fingerprinting.
- Ability to identify correct billing claims and correct any discrepancies.
- Fill in for staff as needed.
- Complete training per compliance on a yearly basis.
- Complete EMR training to fully understand the system/database of insurance claims.
