MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST
Specialty physician office is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist for our Murfreesboro office.
Not a remote position.
To apply, you must have either:
1.) 3 to 5 years of experience in medical insurance and private pay collections in either a physician office or a hospital setting;
OR
2.) Hold a certificate in billing/coding (CPC, RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC-H AAPC)
Candidate will be responsible for ensuring claims are submitted either electronically via clearinghouse or paper mailings with correct coding. Must have extensive coding knowledge, including ICD-10, CPT, HCPSCII and HCFA 1500.
Candidate must ensure accurate and complete account follow-up to all insurance carriers and patients. Ability to communicate with insurance carriers, providers and patients for timely processing of claims and payments is essential.
Providers enter charges and CPT codes for Billing Specialist to review for accuracy prior to submission. The ability to properly code and catch provider errors is essential to this position. The employee must have the ability to prioritize, problem solve and multitask.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Research and resolution of coding projects as assigned.
2. Perform ongoing analysis of medical record charts for the appropriate coding compliance.
3. Confirming batch submission with clearinghouse daily.
4. Responsible for meeting daily production goal.
5. Responsible for meeting quality coding goal of averaging 95% accuracy rate on a monthly basis.

4. Must be detailed orientated and able to meet targeted deadlines.
Knowledge:
1. Advanced knowledge of medical coding and billing systems and regulatory requirements.
2. Advanced knowledge of auditing concepts and principles
3. Knowledge of specialty medical practices is a plus
4. Ability to read and understand an EOB
5. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology preferred
Education:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. If you do not have 3 to 5 years of experience, you must have a RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, or CPC certification in order to be considered.
3. Must be proficient in Excel
Experience:
Candidates with eClinicalWorks experience as well as experience in the following specialties will be given preference: Pain Management, Orthopedic, or General Surgery.
