Medical Insurance Billing Specialist

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately billing and coding medical procedures, ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies, and maintaining patient billing records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical office systems, coding procedures, and medical terminology.

Duties:
- Review and verify accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information
- Assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, DRG) to diagnoses and procedures
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and resubmit as necessary
- Process payments from insurance companies and patients
- Maintain accurate patient billing records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Answer patient inquiries regarding billing issues or insurance coverage
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure accurate documentation for billing purposes
- Stay up-to-date with changes in coding regulations and insurance requirements

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or related field
- Proficient in medical coding (ICD-10, ICD-9) and billing software/systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Familiarity with insurance guidelines and reimbursement processes
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Note: All positions must be paid, including internship positions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
