Medical Biller

The Medical Biller plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of patient billing records, timely submission of insurance claims, and efficient collection of payments for services rendered by our mental health therapists. They adeptly handle billing inquiries and discrepancies in accordance with established healthcare billing standards, ensuring smooth operations.

Duties and Responsibilties:

• Submits claims to insurance carriers timely and accurately.
• Tracks and monitors all billing, payments, and collections.
• Adheres to professional, ethical, and legal standards of practice.
• Monitors, researches, and resolves claims issues.
• Updates patient accounts as necessary and prepares accounts for collections.
• Posts payments to accounts in Electronic Health Record (EHR) Software
• Performs insurance verifications.
• Reviews and monitors patient's deductible status.
• Communicates directly with patients or caregivers about any questions related to insurance coverage.
• Maintaining claim status.
• Attends required meetings.
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary to the success of the practice.

Required Experience and Education:

• Medical Billing Experience Required (3-5 years)
• Outpatient Mental Health Billing (1 year) - Billing and Coding use of ICD-10, CPT Codes
• Athena EHR systems (Preferred)
• High School Diploma a must. Associate degree or two (2) year studies from an accredited college/university preferred.
• Training, education and/or experience may be substituted for certain minimum qualifications.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Previous behavioral health billing experience required.
• Experience with a mental health billing software required.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skill
• Very detail oriented in a fast paced environment
• Ability to self-research, educate and learn on their own
• Professional demeanor, highly motivated, customer service oriented, and energetic.
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationship with practice staff.
• Able to work effectively with a diverse population and with different management levels.
• Good oral and written communication skills (bilingual in Spanish preferred).
• Be able to work independently and pick up new tasks efficiently.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
