Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing medical claims and billing insurance companies for services rendered. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing systems, coding, and terminology.
Duties:
- Review and verify patient information, medical records, and services provided to ensure accurate billing
- Assign appropriate medical codes (ICD-10, ICD-9) to diagnoses and procedures
- Prepare and submit electronic or paper claims to insurance companies
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, ensuring timely resolution
- Communicate with insurance companies and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
- Process payments from patients, insurance companies, and other third-party payers
- Generate reports on billing activities, including revenue projections and collections
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing is preferred
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of medical billing systems and software
- Familiarity with medical coding (ICD-10, ICD-9) and terminology
- Understanding of insurance guidelines and reimbursement processes
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficient in using computers and electronic medical record systems
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
