Medical Assistant Occupational Health

RESPONSIBILITES

• Register patients schedule appointments, answer phones, and perform administrative duties
• Obtain vitals and histories for patients under supervision of physician or nurse
• Assist physicians in conducting physical examinations, treatment of both work and non-work related injuries, and job testing 
• Perform chain-of-custody drug screens and breathalyzer tests 
• Perorm job function screenings, fit-testing, spirometry, vision screening, and audio screening 
• Collect lab specimens and perform CLIA waived lab tests
• Maintain accurate patient medical records
• Performs phlebotomy and administers immunizations 
• Send reports medical records to employers and keeps accurate and organized files of all pending tests and results 
• Communicate with collaborating physicians, techs, and Medical Assistants regarding patient care
• Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
• Communicate with corporate contacts to coordinate Occupational Health screenings
• Travel to contracted companies to complete on-site patient care

QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiarity with medical software and equipment
• Experience working in a medical office
• Ability to build rapport with patients and corporate contacts
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work as part of a healthcare team
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification and MA certification
