Medical Assistant (Ma)

A premier and fast expanding Gastroenterology Practice with multiple office locations in Columbia, Annapolis, Olney and Riverdale, Maryland is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA). To provide support for the Gastroenterology practice in various clinical and administrative duties. The Medical Assistant will report to the Physician and/or other clinical providers on site. The Medical Assistant should be able to use analytical skills to understand medical diagnoses, follow medical charts and understand medical codes. They should also be able to provide patient education and personal patient care.

Administrative duties:

• Communication with patients including scheduling patient appointments
• Maintaining medical records
• Schedule laboratory tests and collect reports
• Take inventory and liaise with suppliers of medical supplies
• Answer phone calls
• Perform patient data entry

Clinical and Medical Duties:

• Measure and record vital signs
• Conduct basic laboratory samples
• Clean and prepare the examination room and equipment
• Assist the doctor in administering medications, diagnostic testing and in treatments
• Complete Prior Authorizations for medications

Skills and qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Associates Degree in a Medical Field
• Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred
• 2+ years of working in the healthcare field
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Strong Organizational skills and an eye for detail
• Superior customer service skills
• Ability to respect patient confidentiality
• High level of professionalism

Hours:

• Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm (Full time)
