Provides administrative functions including, but not limited to: transporting patients, answering phones, general administrative duties, maintaining a clean facility environment, and maintaining supplies
Working Relationships

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this position. They are not to be construed as an exclusive list of all job duties in this position.
Duties/Responsibilities
1. Responsible for registering patients at the front desk
2. Prepares all necessary documents for patients to complete
3. Maintains confidentiality, security, and physical safety of patient records
4. Interacts with physician/office personnel and answers the phone in a friendly manner
5. Coordinates with clinic staff to collect ID, insurance, and H&P (including labs and possibly cardiac clearance based on nurse recommendations)
6. Collects patient’s financial responsibilities (copay, deductible or balance) to gives to Office Manager
7. Build weekly charts: blank forms with patient labels, H&P, labs, etc.
8. Print and distributes schedules to anesthesia provider and charge nurse on procedure days
9. Brings patients back to patient care area to prepare for procedure
10. Monitor vital signs and recognize emergencies and notify RN of any observed changes in patient’s status and responses.
11. Document episode of care accurately, timely, completely, and legibly.
12. Providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice
13. Protecting the patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy
14. Audit patient charts for necessary documentation and signatures
15. Add procedure notes or operative notes to patient charts and reach out to clinic staff for any missing notes.
16. Maintains confidentiality, security, and physical safety of patient records
17. Enters arrival and discharge times into scheduling platform.
18. Under the supervision of a nurse call post-op patients and inquire about their condition.
19. Mail out post-op questionnaires to patients not reached by phone.
20. Assist nurse with putting away supplies, restocking, and ordering supplies
21. Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
22. Clean and prepare equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions for use.
23. Maintain required competencies
24. Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
25. Comply with all SOG facility policies and procedures, regulatory and accreditation standards and professional guidelines when providing patient care.
26. Actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and daily safety huddles.
27. Adheres to facilities guidelines as they relate to this position

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Knowledge of medical terminology
Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with a Medical Assistant Certification. Knowledge and skills appropriate to the job preferred.
Two years of Medical Assistant / Nursing Assistant/ Patient Care Tech experience preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of patients or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to ass, subtract, multiply and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete carriable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
Current certification as a Medical Assistant in the state of Maryland
BLS certification within 6 months of hire
