Medical Assistant

***Must have recent 3-year Medical Assistant experience doing Front office work to be considered and experience should be verifiable. Pls don't apply if you dont fulfill experience crtiteria***

We are looking for:

1) Full-time Medical Assistant M-F 8:30 am -4:00 pm (37.5 per week).

2) Part-time Medical Assistant- days are flexible (18-20 hours per week).

Medical assistants are instrumental in helping to keep the flow of the office. The primary goal of the Medical Assistant is to quickly and accurately move the patients through the clinic from the time they check in to the time they check out. Most importantly the role of the Medical Assistant is to anticipate the needs of the physician and patient.

Our practice sees patients for primary care, mental health, pain management, medical cannabis, and suboxone. You must have at least 3-year RECENT Front office Medical Assistant experience and understand basic medical terminology. It is also required that you have basic insurance knowledge. This position is mostly clerical. Applicants must be able to multi-task.

• Complete patient intake process by giving them the necessary forms and entering insurance information into the EHR and collecting co-pays (Training will be provided)
• Scheduling follow-ups, calling patients for reminder calls,
• Assist clinician with daily care and day-to-day tasks.
• Address patient phone calls without disrupting provider schedule
• Performs clinic testings, including but not limited to urine collection, vision testing, temperature, pulse, blood pressure, pain scale
• Gathers brief history and chief complaint
• Administrative tasks include faxing and phoning in prescriptions, calling for reports and records, and collecting and relaying lab information.
• Should have knowledge about obtaining medical cannabis in Maryland and answer patient questions (training will be provided)
• Upload cannabis patients' info into the state database,
• Updating patient medical records
• Scheduling appointments
• Promptly deliver patient messages to providers and follow up with patients if necessary
• Submitting prior authorizations
• Request and obtain medical records(MRIs, x-rays, visit notes)
• Accurately and thoroughly enters scheduling data. No shows/cancellations/add-ons are always documented. All demographics are accurate and entered properly. Insurance verification is completed for all patients.
• Maintaining clinic supplies as necessary
• Other duties as assigned
