HDR is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Folsom or Walnut Creek, CA. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering.
As a Mechanical intern at HDR, you will work with a team of licensed mechanical engineers, engineers in training on different project types and with diverse professionals. Our goal will be to engage you in all facets of our work so that you will gain a better understanding of how your coursework is applied in real-world settings and inspire you to engage in a career in mechanical engineering upon graduation.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Mechanical Intern, we'll count on you to:
- Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
- Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications.
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
- Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
- Perform other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar field
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D with the drive to learn more
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
- Attention to detail a must
- Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Must be able to work in-person in the office and in the field
- Basic Microsoft Office skills

Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years completed toward degree with a minimum of 3.0 GPA
- Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
