Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will:

• Develop and optimize key components of the Linear Generator to drive down cost, improve performance, and deliver high reliability
• Directly contribute to hands-on prototyping, testing, and debugging in collaboration with cross functional teams to drive product development improvements

Qualifications

• College student in last 2 years of BS or in MS program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Previous internship experience in a product design or manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Experience designing and fabricating mechanical parts and assemblies is a plus. A solid acumen for hands-on testing and debugging is great. Previous experience assembling fixtures, test setups, etc., with modular frame systems (eg unistrut, 8020) a plus
• Solid understanding in several of the following areas is a plus: solid mechanics, fluid/thermal systems, materials, tolerance stack-ups
• Experience with Solidworks or equivalent 3D CAD package and familiarity with mechanical drawings and basic dimension and tolerance techniques.
• Familiarity with machining and various fabrication techniques (CNC/manual machining, welding, sheet metal forming, etc.)
• Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with peers, managers and external partners
• Interest in working in a manufacturing environment on full size products

The Bay Area hourly wage for this role is $27-$35 + benefits. This position will report on-site in Menlo Park, CA. The hourly wage will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
