Mistras is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in Mechanical Integrity including Risk Based Inspection analysis, pressure equipment damage assessments, fitness for service, Inspection Data Management System, and NDE services. The Mechanical Engineer will be experienced with various industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, ASNT, OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM). Must be willing to travel up to 50%

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Consult with clients on Mechanical Integrity and PSM programs including gap analysis, data mining, development and implementation.
  • Consult with clients on efficient and cost-effective implementation of inspections and integrity management programs to ensure the integrity of plant facilities including all onshore and offshore structures, pipelines, stationary equipment, piping systems, etc.
  • Perform and support Risk Based Inspection projects.
  • Work directly with customers to develop and/or understand the scope of work and develop proposals for winning and completing projects.
  • Problem solve and provide clear, supported, and concise recommendations to customer representative.
  • Analyze inspection, operational, and environmental data to assess condition of fixed equipment and piping systems.
  • Complete initial identification of active and potential damage mechanisms based on process chemistries, materials, and corrosion mitigation methods employed by clients.
  • Assist with developing adequate inspection strategies targeting damage mechanisms.
  • Perform field audits, criticality assessments, and failure analyses.
  • Develop and deliver internal and external training to support materials, welding, inspection, and corrosion engineering requirements.
  • Provide mentorship to entry level engineers and technical staff.
  • Ensure timely delivery of reports and other customer deliverables.
  • Coordinate with invoicing personnel to ensure timely and accurate invoices are submitted to customers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS degree in engineering, mathematics or pure science discipline. Masters degree or MBA a plus.
  • PE or PE eligibility is a must.
  • 6 + years of experience in Time or Risk Based Inspection and Mechanical Integrity for pressure vessel, process piping and aboveground atmospheric storage tank design and post-construction Engineering and Fitness for Service assessments.
  • Experience in pressure vessel, piping and above ground storage tank design, maintenance and Mechanical Integrity.
  • Experience base to include petrochemical, chemical, refining, pulp and paper, conventional power, pharmaceutical, food processing, pipeline, municipalities and government.
  • Code experience to include ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and Div. 2, ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 510, API 570, API 58/581 API 620, API 650, API 653.
  • Solid knowledge of both core and advanced NDT technologies, and their applications and limitations in conducting fixed equipment fitness for service damage assessments.
  • Self-directed, with proven ability to work complex, multidiscipline problems and deliver a technically correct and defensible engineering analysis that meets client demands on time and within the allocated budget.
  • Proven ability to work as both a team member and leader on cross-functional teams comprising core and advanced NDT technicians, client engineering representatives and company management in solving highly technical engineering problems.

  • Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
