Chemours is seeking a(n) Mechanical Integrity Engineer/MIQA Program Leader who will provide mechanical engineering support to the La Porte plant! The La Porte site operates Hydrofluoric and Sulfuric Acid plants for supply to the downstream Chemours plants. This position will report directly to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager in our La Porte, Texas location.
The engineer will be assigned to one of the Operating Areas to support daily maintenance activities for mechanical crews, operators, and manufacturing technology engineers. The role will also lead the continued program development of the La Porte Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance (MIQA) program to ensure safe and reliable operation of all process equipment at the site. The engineer will be expected to provide technical expertise on MIQA and PSM maintenance/repairs in order to ensure compliance with existing standards, while bolstering the site reliability in the process. This role will include analyses of a range of equipment issues as well as maintenance and reliability support. The engineer will be responsible for owning the MIQA program and upgrading existing managing systems to prevent PSM incidents due to MIQA deficiencies.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the site MIQA steering team and coordinate related activities.
  • Identify, and lead focused MIQA improvement efforts for the site.
  • Provide direction on plant equipment inspection and repair strategies and plans.
  • Provide daily maintenance support and technical expertise for mechanical equipment within assigned operating area.
  • Manage and upgrade plant standards, manuals for PSM maintenance and MIQA compliance
  • Drive improvements of site practices at shop floor to improve documentation of critical repairs and inspection activities
  • Serve as an integral member of site auditing process for MIQA element
  • Work closely with site quality assurance representatives and sourcing to provide technical expertise and necessary surveillance during supplier audits
  • Maintain and develop best practices for quality control of maintenance materials with stores staff
  • Improve site quality assurance program for process equipment
  • Drive maintenance and training improvements with training leadership
  • Provide training and coaching as needed for area MIQA resources (reliability engineers, inspectors, etc.)

The following is required for this role:
  • BS engineering or at least 10 year's specific experience,
  • 5 years equipment reliability / Mechanical Integrity / QA experience in a chemical/refining plant environment (high hazard processes)

The following is preferred for this role:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • >5 years equipment Mechanical Integrity / reliability work experience and training in the refining/petrochemical industry with a focus on process safety.
  • Rotating equipment reliability and lubrication experience.
  • Understanding of the principles of: Process piping and vessel test/inspection/repair techniques; Materials Science; Lubrication, Predictive techniques for fixed, rotating, power distribution equipment and instrumentation e.g. vibration analysis, nondestructive testing, thermography, etc.; Total Productive Maintenance (TPM); Total Equipment Effectiveness (Uptime); Equipment Life Cycle Cost; Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA); Engineering codes and their application
  • API Certification

Pay Range (in local currency):
$97,843.00 - $152,880.00
Chemours Level:
25
Annual Bonus Target:
8%
