Position: Source Inspector
Location: Tukwila, WA
Duration: 180 days (extension per customer need)
Frequency: 9x80 schedule (week 1 M-F; 9 hours = 45 hours / week 2 M-W; 9 hours, Thurs 8 hours, Friday off = 35 hours
Compensation: $25-30 USD / Hour (D.O.E.)
Job Description:
Summary of Work to be completed: Inspect pre and post cure of composite parts, specifically carbon fiber. Some parts will also have a honeycomb core sandwiched between the plys which requires the inspector to inspect the honeycomb prior to being inserted. The inspector supports the Wisk manufacturing statement of work at our Parent company location listed above. Inspection Duties: • Individual with Composite manufacturing and inspection background. o Preference for Carbon Fiber specific composite experience • Ability to inspection pre-cured fiber hand layup o Validate tool preparation was performed per specification requirement. o Validate ply sequence and orientation o Validate correct material used o Validate Bagging material correctly applied • Ability to inspect autoclave cure reports o Ability to interpret cure reports that depicts ramp up rates for heat and pressure, dwell times and reduction in heat and pressure. o Must be able to mentally translate a matrix of values that represent the above requirements and ensure they're within Specification guidelines. • Ability to visually inspect post cured parts o Inspect for resin ridges o Inspect for resin richness o Inspect for ply wrinkles o Inspect for surface scratches o Inspect for resin starvation o Inspect for surface depressions o Inspect for part warpage o Inspect for uneven faying surface • Ability to inspect honeycomb core material o Dimensional inspection of core o Inspection for core tear out o inspection for core crushing o Inspection for core debris/FOD entrapment • Update work orders o Inspector would accept work performed o Inspector would add pertinent values and information into the data collection fields • Create Non Conformance Records (NCR) o The inspector would initiate NCR records when defects are found o The inspector would collaborate with manufacturing and engineering to work through NCR's • Team Collaboration o Be a team player and work collaboratively with other organizations.
Requirements:
Candidate must have practical experience performing in-process and final inspections on complex machined parts, assemblies, and / or sub-assemblies. The inspections will be performed to engineering requirements specified per ANSI Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) or equivalent standard. Must have the ability to read / interpret engineering drawings and Purchase Orders (POs). The candidate must have experience using various mechanical inspection tools, such as micrometers and calipers. Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance to the AS9102 standard and knowledge is required. Ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience performing inspections in aerospace or military / defense manufacturing with proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel. Candidate should be computer savvy and own a laptop for this assignment. Will be working as an independent contractor (1099).
