We are looking for a Full-time Communication Support Specialist to join our team. The
successful candidate will be responsible for preparing presentations, articles, plans, and
reports to effectively communicate goals, strategies, and activities of the FAA technical
operations. The Communications Specialist must support meetings and create information
in the appropriate media to be distributed to a wide range of FAA employees, internal and
external organizations, and stakeholders. While some documents are required per
scheduled milestones, others will be required on an ad hoc basis.
Responsibilities:
- Draft briefings and related communication artifacts and submit for approval prior to
communicating with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Office of Management and
Budget (OMB), Office of the Secretary of Transportation (OST), Congress, internal and
executive FAA leadership, and other internal or external interest and constituents.
- Ensure communication artifacts and action tracker content are distributed/collaborated
with team leads and directorates.
- Conduct research on relevant external sources (e.g., media reports, articles, position
papers, legislative process, and proposals) and provide artifacts capturing event
information related to Technical Operations Service Unit communications, events, and
legislature for Operations Support, Facilities and Engineering Services, NAS Security and
Enterprise Operations, Logistics Center (FAALC), Services Areas, or TechOps Air Traffic
Supervisors' Committee (SUPCOM).
- Provide technical writing for organizing and translating complex data into clear and usable
issue papers, reports, articles, briefings, job aids, and guidance documents for diverse
target audiences.
- Assist in developing traditional communication materials and messaging artifacts.
- Support the preparation of periodic (i.e., level of effort) reports through coordination with
senior leadership.
- Support the development of meeting agendas, meeting minutes, action items and
tracking, and make recommendations for improving these artifacts in support of senior
leadership, as well as for workgroups.
- Support the development of communication plans, briefing materials, newsletters, press
releases, webpage updates, and other media for internal and external use.
- Contribute to the planning and scheduling of briefings and meetings, including the
compilation and administration of background and support material, arranging facilities,
and coordinating accommodations and registration.
