WHAT WE NEED:
Mechanical Engineer
The Mechanical Engineer will perform engineering calculations and oversee project activities related to Mechanical and Piping Engineering to ensure quality client deliverables. While working toward the success of the Sigma team, the Mechanical Engineer will strive for personal development by continually seeking to expand his/her engineering and supervisory skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:- Act as a coordinator by reviewing calculations, answering questions, and providing oversight for junior engineers and non-P.E. engineering specialists.
- Perform and/or review calculations analyzing:
- Pipe stresses using Bentley AutoPIPE.
- Pressure vessel components using PRG NozzlePRO and/or PV Elite.
- Perform and/or review miscellaneous Mechanical calculations analyzing:
- API-650 lower nozzles.
- 3 wall thickness, required hydrotest pressures, and area replacement.
- Column bending.
- PSV reaction force per API-520 and/or B31.1.
- Lifting/tailing lugs.
- Weld strength.
- Prepare and/or review equipment requisition documentation:
- Requisition Form
- Index of Technical Documents (IOTD)
- Exhibit A - Supplier Data Requirements List (SDRL)
- Exhibit B - Inspection & Test Requirements (ITR)
- Supplemental Equipment Specification
- Complete equipment data sheets for new and existing equipment as the project dictates.
- Contact equipment vendors to obtain budgetary and/or firm pricing.
- Evaluate vendor quotes to ensure the equipment meets project requirements.
- Prepare bid tabulations when multiple bids are acquired.
- Application of P.E. Seal:
- Review and apply PE Seal to piping construction work packages.
- Review and apply PE Seal to calculation packages.
- Oversee the work of non-P.E. Mechanical Engineering Specialists.
- Coordinate with other disciplines during multi-discipline efforts.
- Attend internal and client project meetings as required.
- Communicate with client SMEs when necessary.
- Provide input on man-hour estimates and project schedules.
WHO WE NEED:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year college or university.
- Professional Engineer, P.E., licensure in the state of Louisiana.
- 10+ years of industrial consulting engineering experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of a wide swath of industry codes and standards, most prevalent being the API and ASME collections.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to obtain licensure in states outside of Louisiana.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders as necessary for field work.
