System One is actively recruiting for several Marine Engineer(s) and Marine Designer(s) for long-term contract positions working fully remote.

We are seeking Junior to Senior level Marine Engineer(s) -Mechanical, Electrical, and Naval Architects for two-year project working remote.
Marine Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for complex design calculations and drawing development for the construction, maintenance, and repair of maritime vessels and shipboard systems including structural, propulsion, electrical, and hydraulic mechanics.
  • Ensuring vessel design is in compliance with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the technical management of design and analyses projects from concept to completion.
  • Reviews drawings for compliance, accuracy, and ease of production.
  • Liaise with production and provide technical support during construction.
  • Directs engineers, designers and drafters, engineering consultants, and/or vendors in the development of vessel design information.
  • Works with production and project teams to successfully implement vessel and vessel component designs.
  • Facilitates training, mentoring, and developing other engineers.
  • Provides work leadership and direction to other engineers.
  • Complies with employee handbook general guidelines, company procedures and policies.

Marine Engineer Qualifications:

  • 2 to 15 years of relevant engineering experience in the manufacturing, construction (or similar) industry, shipbuilding industry strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills, Ability to help grow company culture.
  • Understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Experienced in interacting with Production, multiple design teams from several companies, customer representatives and equipment manufacturers.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, and MS Office product.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in Steel and Aluminum Ship Construction.
  • Knowledge and application of modular construction methods.
  • Strong working knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities (i.e. ABS, NAVSEA, MIL, USCG, IMO, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and construction of US Navy vessels.
  • Strong working knowledge of shock design.
  • Strong working knowledge of FEA methods, experience with FEMAP / NASTRAN a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of composite shafting.


Electrical Engineer Specific Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
  • 18 years or older at time of application
  • Able to provide proof of US Person status (permanent resident or citizen)
  • No felony convictions of theft/deception or violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
  • No felony convictions of drug crimes within three years from disposition date
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen
  • Willing to submit to a background check


Project Location: Fully Remote
Contract Duration: 2-Years (Anticipated)

Marine Designer Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for 2D and 3D drawing development.
  • Checking drawings created by CAD Drafters and Designer I-II
  • Works with Production Management, cross-functional design teams internal and external to the company, including business partner representatives, customer representatives and equipment manufacturers.

Marine Designer Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree or higher in CAD preferred. 
  • 2 to 4 years minimum of 3D modeling experience
  • 3 to 10 years of shipyard design or production/construction experience or equivalent experience.
    • Experience in construction of high speed aluminum vessels preferred
    • Experience with modular construction methods preferred
    • Experience in design and construction of US Navy vessels preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experienced in interacting with multiple design teams and members of production.
  • Experience using 2D and 3D AutoCAD
    • Basic draw and modify commands
    • Layer types
    • Line types
    • Dimensions
    • Unit of measure
    • Creating orthographic views from isometric drawings
    • 3D modeling commands
    • Creating 3D models from orthographic views or vendor furnished information
    • Able to interface with models from other disciplines using the XREF command
    • Able to model in 3D model space without interferences
  • Experience with ShipConstructor preferred.
  • Able to interpret system schematics, structural key plans, compartment arrangements, and electrical diagrams to create 3D CAD models.
