Tesla is looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and implement specialized R&D equipment for our cutting-edge powertrain products. This position will help drive technological advancement while working closely with cross-functional teams. Powertrain development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles – powertrain cost and performance. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.
- Catalyze manufacturing learnings through rapid physical proof-of-concept and experimentation
- Support product and process validation by delivering pilot Manufacturing Equipment
- Concept, develop, and industrialize novel equipment for core technologies
- Demonstrated experience in electroMechanical Design and analysis of tooling, equipment, and automation
- Project management experience
- Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD preferred)
- Familiarity with equipment safety standards and practices (ANSI, NFPA, LOTO, OSHA)
- Broad experience with prototyping and fabrication methods
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science or equivalent experience
Compensation and Benefits
Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:
$80,000 - $258,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
