St. Norbert College, a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking a Mechanical Systems Specialist. This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to the three specialist positions of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC and also serves as the primary backup for these positions.
Regular work hours are Monday – Friday, 12:30pm - 8:30pm.
Specific responsibilities:
Test, maintain, and manage chemical treatment for all boilers on campus. Test, maintain, and manage condensate systems. Routine maintenance checks and testing of exhaust systems mainly located on the roofs of campus buildings. Preventative Maintenance on air handler units. Maintain a variety of campus assets and building systems including, but not limited to, mechanical systems, electrical systems, door hardware, key systems, and building finishes. Perform routine preventative maintenance and other general maintenance ensuring the college building remains in good condition and working order. Complete work-orders as assigned. Respond to facilities emergencies on campus. Maintain equipment records regarding condition and maintenance intervals. Be primary facilities contact during working hours. - 80%
Take part in the On-Call program. Take part in the snow removal program when needed whether by plow or snow broom. - 10%
Take part in the Diggers Hotline Locator program and be a resource for locating underground utilities for campus and/or contractors. - 10%
Perform additional duties as assigned and attend College required training. Regular attendance is required. Work in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others and observes safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the College or governmental authority.
Supervision Exercised Over:
2 full-time student employees in the summer
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education -
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience and Credentials -
3-4 years of proven knowledge and experience in the areas of boiler operations, electrical, HVAC, and general plumbing.
Boiler operator's license preferred along with classes in HVAC control systems, basic electrical and basic plumbing training.
Valid Driver’s License
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.

Equipment Used:
Computer, phone, calculator, printer/copier, general office equipment, hand tools, power tools, electrical meter, power augers, sewer machine, man lifts, utility carts.
Working Conditions:
Works on campus with many interruptions throughout the day. Weekends or evenings are generally not required and the position is not expected to travel.

Generally a position standing/walking most of the shift with frequent bending and reaching. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs occasionally with frequent carrying of items less than 10 lbs. Will need to move within buildings and various locations throughout campus both inside and outside. Will need to use up to an 8 foot ladder and does work on a man lift occasionally.
