Lead an integrated services/support team that helps to significantly improve the overall functioning of the Tech Ops organization. Coordinate the long-term Tech Ops Strategy development and drive Tech Ops continuous improvement efforts. Lead a centralized Tech Ops Program Management Office that is comprised of key resources – including project management, analytics, business intelligence, business technology, operations excellence, training, change enablement, and communications – to provide both strategic and tactical support to all Tech Ops functions.

  • Works closely with the SVP – Technical Operations and the Tech Ops senior staff to establish a clear overall business/operating strategy for the Tech Ops department
  • Actively engages and works closely with the Tech Ops senior leadership team to develop initiatives and roadmaps that support the overall strategy (focused on core mission of a safe, efficient and reliable operation)
  • Leads the communication strategy for the Tech Ops organization to drive engagement in the overall strategy and key messages.
  • Leads the Tech Ops Continuous Improvement efforts and provides support resources to the business teams (i.e., analytics, project management, OpEx, change management, communications resources)
  • Identifies opportunities to utilize data and analytics to improve our business intelligence capabilities and assists operating groups in utilizing this business intelligence to improve performance
  • Helps our production organizations drive for operational excellence by providing support that enables them to meet ops performance targets (i.e. related to delays, cancellations, deferred maintenance, and out-of-service aircraft)
  • Works in collaboration with other support organizations (inside and outside of Tech Ops) to regularly identify, evaluate, and implement initiatives to increase safety, improve operational results, improve reliability, reduce cycle times, increase quality, and reduce cost
  • Leads the development, delivery and support of technical training for Tech Ops
  • Drives innovation across Tech Ops and leads the Business Technology and Product Support Model to bring innovative tools/systems to our frontline team
  • Collaborates with IT to develop and champion Tech Ops IT Strategies and Product roadmaps
  • Represents Tech Ops as a liaison with other operations teams and airline groups on cross-divisional projects, IT initiatives, and strategic activities
  • Provides strong day-to-day oversight and an inspired/supportive leadership to the Tech Ops Support department
  • Maintains excellent relations with represented and non-represented employee groups
  • Develops a strong, collaborative, diverse team that cares for our front-line team members
  • Is a passionate advocate for strengthening AA’s Safety Culture, focusing on developing and supporting safety programs that prevent employee injuries and minimize aircraft/equipment damage events
  • Assesses short-term and long-term impact of proposed program, policy, or philosophy changes and ensures that all Tech Ops programs and policies comply with applicable Code of Federal Regulations and company standards
  • Represents AA Tech Ops both internally (to other operations teams and corporate functions) as well as externally (to the overall domestic and global airline industry)
  • Leads strategic development of AMT pipeline and partnerships with key industry institutions and organizations.
  • Identifies and champions development of talent to enhance the teams’ capabilities, in collaboration with enterprise learning.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Aviation or related field, or equivalent knowledge / experience
  • 10 years of leadership experience, overseeing large workgroups with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 7 years of experience in airline operations, with previous experience in airline Technical Operations
  • Experience leading teams working under airline collective bargaining agreements

  • Experience leading large-scale project/program management activities
  • Strong planning/organization skills with ability to manage multiple projects successfully
