Job Summary
The Technical Lead of Data Center Operations oversees the daily activity related to server and network operations. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide onsite support to local Data Center / Network POP and remote support to all US OVHCloud Data Centers. The role will also focus on supporting numerous Data Centers, customer orders and Data Center network deployments. This role will serve as the primary escalation point for Data Center Operations escalations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Data Center operation IT staff in overseeing the development, integration, maintenance, and operation of IT infrastructure systems and services.
- Work with Project Management team to ensure project timelines are being met.
- Work with Service Delivery team to ensure all orders are being processed and billed properly for Enterprise Customers.
- Top of the Rack Switch deployment, post configurations and quality check.
- Monitor, diagnose, and resolve network issues escalated by DCO IT staff.
- Assist with infrastructure device guidelines, policies, configuration standards and best practices for Data Center teams.
- Review policy and procedure and ensure all IT systems and services remain in compliance with ISO and SOC policies.
- Ensuring our operation is meeting all internal OLA’s and external SLA’s.
- Monitor environmental state to ensure proper conditions for equipment and operations.
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Support, and Data center Managers to develop action plan for improved operations and open communications.
- Gather data on common processes and work with supporting teams to develop efficient procedures.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and provide training to other technicians.
- Act as the technical point of contact between Data Center IT operations and all internal teams.
- Identify work requiring change management and organize Data Center change management requests.
- Identify and notify stakeholders of issues as need and escalate issues as required.
- Deploy and maintain network equipment in PoP sites.
- On-call availability is required.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of experience supporting a mission critical Data Center providing IT services.
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail oriented but concise.
- Advanced understanding of computer and network hardware, including troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Solid understanding of Data Center networking, switching, and routing, including troubleshooting and configuration of servers and network devices.
- Knowledge of racking and stacking equipment, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment, and Data Center power infrastructure.
- Familiarity with physical site security protocols.
- Minimal travel required (up to 10%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with common Linux and Windows commands and tools.
- Experience with Arista and Cisco network configurations and commands.
- Previous experience working in a high availability Data Center environment.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and Linux+
- Arista ACE-A and ALE
- Cisco certifications
- Microsoft MTA and MCSA
- Linux RHCSA, SCA, LPIC, LFCS, and LFCE
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to handle; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
