Math Learning Center Coordinator (MLCC) supports establishing and managing the day-to-day operations of MLC. The MLCC position will be a 12-month full-time position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties of MLCC include, but not limited, to the following:
- Support to establish the Math Learning Center.
- Develop training materials for student tutors and faculty in consultation with the Project Director(s) and the Department Chair
- Hire and provide appropriate training for student tutors with the collaboration and supervision of the Project Director(s)
- Schedule and supervise the student math tutors in MLC and keep accurate records of their weekly hours of work
- Facilitate supplemental instruction activities for students enrolled in College Algebra with the assistance of student teaching assistants (tutors)
- Maintain a log of student attendance and progress
- Help participants develop invaluable study and time-management skills along with content knowledge
- Act as a liaison between course instructors and students
- Advertise and facilitate the Math Learning Center events
- Organize and present workshops and exam review sessions as needed
- Prepare utilization and other reports of the Math Learning Center
- Coordinate monthly and quarterly reports as necessary.
- Help on other activities related to the project
- Bachelor’s Degree in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) area
- Have outstanding coordination, records management, and communication skills
- Sensitivity to academic and cultural diversity
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with CSU community
- Willingness to work on online or remote setup
- One or more years of teaching experience in an institute of higher learning
- Experience with learning management systems such as Schoology
- Experience on supervising and managing tutoring workforce
- Master’s degree in STEM or a related area
