UC Health is hiring for Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, in our Infusion Pharmacy department in the Barrett Cancer Center; Blood Cancer Healing Center
Under the supervision of and collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager, and according to standard procedure, the Coordinator-Pharmacy Technician Operations is responsible for developing, planning, and coordinating the operations of the Infusion Pharmacy services department. This can include, but is not limited to, coordinating and performing drug procurement purchasing, workflow coordination, supporting processes and services related to drug, equipment, and supplies. Additional tasks may include technology management, inventory management, distribution, and record keeping for medications in the pharmacy department as well as the associated clinics and departments that require medications; initiating purchase orders for pharmaceuticals, supplies, and service contracts; receiving and distribution of supplies, processing purchase requisitions, authorizing payment for wholesaler invoices, maintaining adequate inventory levels, providing inventory action and communication relative to shortages, recalls, alternative product source and selection. The Coordinator will collaborate within their facility and across the system as necessary for medication ordering, inventory management, medication distribution, auditing, and record keeping, ensuring that all regulatory standards are met and maintained. In addition, they maintain an active technician certification and the competency to be able to assist in times of extreme technician shortage or emergency.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains processes for medication, supplies, and equipment procurement to ensure optimal inventory management.
• Assists departmental leadership with financial management of medication/supplies.
• Ensures that the department meets or exceeds all regulatory and accreditation standards related to pharmacy purchasing and inventory management.
• Ensures that the department meets or exceeds all requirements of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act as set forth by the federal government.
• Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.
• Coordinate and assist with human resource activities within the area of responsibility.

Qualifications
Education: Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Associate degree.
License and Certification: Required: Pharmacy technician certification (Preferred: PTCB Pharmacy Technician certification). Required: Certified technician registered with the state of Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
Years of Experience: Minimum Required: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience in Hospital/Health System Pharmacy or Equivalent. Preferred: 1 - 2 Years equivalent experience in Hospital/Health System Pharmacy or Equivalent In Hospital/Health System Pharmacy Leadership.
Required Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision; work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff; handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule; set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergent requests; exercise sound professional judgment; communicate effectively (orally and in writing); and meet the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served by UC Health.
