Job Title: Material Management and Transportation Specialist
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Renewable)
Location: Kinston, North Carolina
Salary: $35 per hour
Responsibilities:
As a Material Management and Transportation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in optimizing the flow of materials and goods within our organization. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Material Planning and Procurement:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess material needs and develop effective procurement strategies.
- Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, with a preference for expertise in SAP, to manage and monitor inventory levels.
- Generate and analyze reports to identify potential material shortages and surplus.
- Logistics and Transportation:
- Coordinate transportation activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and products.
- Work closely with logistics partners to optimize shipping routes and reduce lead times.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and address any issues that may arise during transit.
- Inventory Management:
- Implement and maintain efficient inventory control procedures.
- Conduct regular audits to validate inventory accuracy and address discrepancies promptly.
- Optimize stock levels to balance supply and demand while minimizing carrying costs.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve favorable agreements.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in material management and transportation.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain performance.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in material management, procurement, and transportation.
- Familiarity with MRP and ERP systems, with a preference for SAP proficiency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in material management and transportation.
Contract Terms:
This is a 6-month contract position with the possibility of renewal based on performance and business needs.
