Construction Materials Project Manager

S&ME is currently seeking a full-time Construction Materials Project Manager to join our Construction Services team in Greensboro, North Carolina.


What You Will Do:

Working under the direction of the Construction Services Operations Manager, serve as Project Manager for medium to large Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects in the region.

  • Mentoring of other professionals and technician staff in client development and project management
  • Coordination of local and regional business development and marketing efforts
  • Generating and/or reviewing field and laboratory cost estimates and proposals in accordance with project plans and specifications, International Building Code (IBC) requirements, and client-provided requests for proposals
  • Preparing documentation of (and mentor staff in performing) field activities, observations, and testing on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications
  • Daily use of Metafield®, and/or other field and laboratory information management systems, for recording and reporting of field observations and testing results

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections
  • 3-5 years in a Project Manager role or working under the responsible charge of a Project Manager
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing), using the English language
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and procedures, IBC Special Inspections, and geotechnical recommendations
  • Working knowledge of equipment maintenance and calibrations for compliance with AASHTO Accreditation Program requirements (including internal and external audits); ICC, ACI, and NICET employee certification programs
  • A strong understanding of effective leadership, business metrics, safety policies/procedures, human resources policies/procedures, and risk management awareness

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
