Labcorp is seeking an Executive Director for Materials Management(warehousing),Inventory Control, and Order Fulfillment. At Labcorp you will be viewed as an integral part of a dynamic and growing Supply Chain leadership team and be responsible for facilitating and ensuring the success of >$1.5 billion in annual inventory.
Your highly strategic role will operate at the enterprise level (across Diagnostics and BioPharma Lab Services business units) and provide leadership for the materials team in charge of managing corporate-wide inventory planning and control, and development and implementation of systems to assure optimum inventory levels and on-time deliveries to meet internal and external customer requirements (while minimizing carrying costs and transportation expenses).
This role reports to the VP of Supply Chain Operations and operates with global oversight and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Lead materials professionals: evolve & adapt organizational structures, as needed, to maintain cadence with the business needs.
Build and develop talent (both within and outside the area responsibility), supporting career planning, engagement, and performance management to ensure value add to the business and to foster team engagement, motivation, retention, and resiliency.
Develop, build stakeholder support, communicate, and deliver strategic plans and makes recommendations in support of initiatives and market-leading innovative solutions to drive value (improved operational and financial performance) for the enterprise-wide functional area of responsibility.
Partner, track, drive, and influence short- and long-term planning initiatives in partnership with divisional leaders, global Supply Chain, real estate, quality, informational technology, science & technology, finance, M&A, sourcing and procurement, and other key stakeholders.
Identify, monitor, and react to market, financial and business trends, metrics and intelligence within the functional area and influence data driven decisions. Stay up to date on current industry trends, regulatory developments, and relevant information.
Work Schedule: Full time. Monday-Friday 8a-5p. Alternate and additional hours, including evening, nights, and weekends is occasionally required.
Work Location: The Supply Chain team is based in Burlington, NC. Hybrid and/or remote work is available. This position operates with global oversight and responsibility and requires up to 50% travel (domestic and international).
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in Supply Chain, business, or related degree (and/or experience) with 7+ years of business experience, including at least 3 years of experience in an upper-level strategic leadership role.
- Experience in a diagnostics laboratory environment, and/or a CRO or global supplier environment supporting global biopharma clients, and/or recent 3PL experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The following skills are required and are used daily in internal/external interactions, operations planning, and leadership.
Materials Management, Inventory Control, and Order Fulfillment: Knowledge and ability to apply standard Materials Management concepts, practices, and procedures (including chemical storage and transportation regulations). Subject matter expertise in warehouse management systems and modern ERP systems, including demand planning, is preferred. Supply chain / Operations certifications (i.e. CPIM, CSCP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.) and knowledge of ISO principles and applications is preferred.
Reporting: Ability to read, interpret, write, develop, implement, and deliver management reports, correspondence, operational materials, and presentations. Speak and present effectively in interpersonal situations both within executive levels and front-line team members. Proficient with Microsoft suite of products is required.
Problem Solving: Strong planning, organization, and attention to detail combined with subject matter experience and expertise is required to navigate the needs within these functional areas. Ability to manage complex problems to assure operations while minimizing risk to Labcorp are critical problem-solving attributes to be successful in this role.
Decision Making: Ability to operate and manage successfully in areas with ambiguity is critical. Success is measured by the organization's ability to provide the highest quality of services while meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA), improving metrics, adaptation of new proven technologies to increase efficiency, with reduced turnover and improved employee engagement. Other measures relate to meeting financial and budget targets for span of control. The leader in this role actively contributes to the overall success of the company and customer satisfaction.
Personal Interactions: Frequent informal and formal interactions will be required with multiple levels from front-line team members to senior management. Ability to influence stakeholders to prioritize and drive improvements while laying out the benefits and risks in a thoughtful and analytical manner to help influence decision making.
Interpersonal Skills: As a seasoned practitioner in this area, this individual operates with a strong authentic presence to lead complex and time sensitive initiatives. Important qualities include emotional intelligence, creative thinking, ability to inspire others, and listening skills to represent Labcorp in a professional manner to advance initiatives. Ability to effectively, interact with, work with, and develop meaningful relationships with people of various cultural backgrounds.
