The Material Coordinator is concerned with coordinating and managing the efficient flow of materials and customers; preparing and arranging materials and equipment for distribution, issue, retrograde and/or storage; moving, loading and/or unloading equipment, materials, and products; driving and maintaining forklifts and related material-handling equipment.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Coordinates, and expedites the flow of material within or between departments and/or sections in accordance with mission requirements, shipping schedules or supervisors’ priorities.

  • Creates production schedules and confers with supervisors to determine and locate required or overdue material.

  • Requisition material and establishes delivery sequences to departments and/or sections.

  • Anticipate availability of material; schedules internal and external transfers of material to meet requirements schedules.

  • Apply knowledge of material, processes, and information systems to compile reports and solve discrepancies.

  • Coordinates the transportation of material from one department and/or section to another, using material-handling equipment.

  • Compiles and reviews records in order to locate material using manual or computerized systems.

  • Oversees and conducts all inventories.

  • Ensures all work areas are clean daily.

  • Coordinates and manages the upkeep and maintenance of the facility, equipment and other warehouses.

  • Ensures that all safety precautions are adhered to at all times.

  • Performs other duties as required or directed by management.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety vest, steel or composite shoes/boots, safety gloves, hard hat and eyewear in certain areas.

  • Majority of work will be in an office and warehouse (inside and outside) environment.

  • There may be times when an employee is exposed to extreme hot and cold weather conditions.

  • A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week), however must be willing to work extended hours and weekends when mission requires.

  • Work will typically be in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. There may be times when an employee is exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Must be able to operate in a warehouse and outdoor type environment.

  • Must be able to walk on uneven ground and within work various sites 6-8 hours a day in performance of duties.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.

  • Must have a High School Diploma

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of Supply Support Activity at the tactical and installation level, as well as Army governing regulations, policies and procedures.

  • GCSS-A certified at the SSA level.

  • Valid state driver’s license required.

  • Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard both Fort Liberty

  • Forklift licensed preferred.

    SECURITY CLEARANCE:

  • Must be able to pass the standard background check.

  • Must be able to pass a NAC-I background check and pre-employment drug screening.

  • Must have or able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

    EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years or more experience in warehouse operations.

  • Four (4) years or more forklift experience.

  • Must have experience and moderate knowledge of governing regulations, policies, procedures and instructions in Supply Procedure.

  • Possess high ethical standards and demonstrate professionalism.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team-based, highly collaborative environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact at all levels.

  • Other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.

    SKILLS:

  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Must have the ability to work independently and in a team-based, highly collaborative environment.

  • Above average knowledge of the logistic information polices, process and system that pertain to Maintenance, Supply and Services, and Transportation Services.

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with subordinates, peers and senior personnel.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and SharePoint is required.

  • Organizational, analytical, written and oral communication skills, possessing basic proficiency in English language (reading & writing).

  • Ability to oversee the day-to-day logistics, maintenance and transportation activities of a division or brigade sized operation.
