Description
Mountain Recreation seeks a Marketing & Events Coordinator with the dedication, resourcefulness, and creativity to bring people together and make a lasting impact on our community. Working alongside the Marketing & Communications Manager, this position will ensure that everyone in our community is connected to the District's facilities, programs, signature events, and initiatives throughout the year - so that everyone has equitable access to healthy and happy lives. Job Title: Marketing & Events Coordinator
Location: Edwards, Colorado Reports to: Marketing & Communications Manager
Salary: $52,519-$78,778 base, plus $3,120 annual incentive for Bilingual (Spanish & English) vocal and written skills Full-Time Exempt

  • Retirement:
  • 401a Colorado Retirement Association Plan - Upon hire employees' contribute 3.75% pre-taxed to their 401(a) with a match from the District. After five years of employment, employees' match automatically increases to a pre-taxed 6% contribution with a match from the District.
  • 457b Retirement Plan - Full time Year Round employees are eligible to elect the 457b Retirement plan up to 10% with a $1 for $1 match from the district after one year of employment. Employees may contribute to the 457 plan within their first year without receiving the district's match. Once the employee reaches one year of service, the district will begin matching. Employees may change their contribution at any time.

Supervision Required: Works under the general guidance and direction of the Marketing & Communications Manager, but in operating under such general guidance and direction will exercise independent judgment and discretion in performing the functions listed below.
Work Environment: Typically work Monday-Friday; day, evening, weekend and/or holiday hours occasionally required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing & Content Procurement
  • Compile program and event information from program and facilities staff, and reproduce it for email, print and digital advertising, digital display, radio, cross promotions, website, and social distribution.
  • Manage Mountain Recreation's website content for accuracy and user interface to maintain and improve the website as the primary tool for communication and program enrollment.
  • Create monthly marketing calendars based on program content from staff, to ensure consistent timely communication across all mediums.
  • Ensure public communications and marketing is provided in English and Spanish and are culturally relevant.
  • Create and distribute email marketing communication via Drip email client.
  • Manage/schedule/produce print, digital, radio, and TV advertising and interviews.
  • Oversee independent contractor projects and budgets, including but not limited to translation, graphic design, videography, and photography services
  • Develop the District's image and video library with engaging program and event content that promotes Mountain Rec's brand and increases program participation.
  • Produce print and digital collateral including but not limited to program brochures, direct-mailers, advertisements, and facility & vehicle signage
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Manager to manage the District's program and event sponsorships.
  • Manage Mountain Recreation's use of social media to enhance overall awareness and communication with constituents. Oversee paid social media campaigns, including building custom audiences and setting budgets.
  • Work with staff to write and distribute blog posts, press releases, and general copy that promote programs and the overall brand of Mountain Recreation.
  • Work with partner and third-party websites to ensure program and facility schedules are accurate and link back to Mountain Rec's website.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with partner organizations. Actively seek new partners who can give Mountain Recreation visibility to their customers.
  • Act as a public brand ambassador as one of the public faces of the Mountain Recreation brand.
  • Mange the District's info@MountainRec.org inbox to ensure customers are receiving timely responses.
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Manager to manage Mountain Rec's annual marketing budget.
  • Speak autonomously in community settings on behalf of Mountain Rec.
  • Other duties as assigned

Community Engagement & Events
  • Develop and execute a volunteer recruitment and recognition program for youth sports coaches and officials.
  • Support District staff in hosting community events, including but not limited to Fiesta America's and Opening Day.
  • Sell sponsorships for District community events
  • Represent Mountain Rec at partner events and other non-event related community engagement opportunities.
  • Provide administrative support to execute the District's Community Partnership Grant Program.
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Manager to develop the individual and private fundraising program.
  • Assist with executing special projects and events such as donor recognition and community events
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Considerable knowledge of : marketing and public relations techniques and strategies, including fundamentals of design and print production; social media marketing and web-based marketing; web management concepts, tools and software.
Skill and ability to: write effective and successful marketing materials; excellent verbal and written communication skills, public speaking, organizational leadership, problem solving and research; extract key information from staff and others through listening, interviewing and participation in activities; work independently, using good judgment and initiative, ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines; manage social media along with independent contractor budgets and contracts, proficiently operate computers, have a fundamental understanding of software relevant to the production of written and graphic marketing materials; work cooperatively with others and create a positive, constructive relationship with staff and the general public.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field; OR
  2. One year experience in marketing, public relations; OR
  3. Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described work.
  4. Bilingual vocal and written skills (Spanish and English), must be able to pass language test
  5. Occasional nights and weekends required.

• Recreation background
• Graphic design experience with Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience working with content management websites and relevant social media sites. WordPress preferred.
• DSLR Photography/Video experience
