Marketing Assistant
McFarland seeks an enthusiastic, well-rounded individual to fill a new vacancy as a Marketing Assistant. This position is part-time (29.5 hours per week) and remote, with the possibility of working on-site in our Jefferson, NC, headquarters if preferred. The Marketing Assistant will support the sales & marketing department and the vice president, performing a variety of tasks for McFarland and for our Exposit and Toplight imprints. This position involves a wide range of potential responsibilities that can be tailored to the right candidate's skills and interests and will be an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the publishing industry.
Key Responsibilities
Provide administrative and creative support to the sales & marketing department.
Read editorial book reviews and pull excerpts to use in marketing individual titles.
Write and edit book descriptions to be used on online retailers' websites (e.g., Amazon), McFarland's website, and the back cover of the print book.
Correspond and develop relationships with authors.
Craft and monitor online marketing campaigns for individual titles and for groups of related titles.
Assist the sales manager with social media marketing.
Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication and strong editing skills
A keen interest in scholarly publishing
Ability to create digital content (including writing and some graphics) for online and social media marketing
Open-minded with a wide variety of scholarly interests and an ability to comprehend new and diverse book topics
A service-oriented, positive attitude
