Next Door is looking for the future leaders of the company. The trainee program requires completion of an 8-week paid trial period before acceptance. The 15-20 hr per week trial allows the company and candidate to make sure it is a great match before beginning the leadership development course.
After the 8-week trial, candidates that qualify are put into a 9 month leadership development course. The course allows candidates to work in different aspects of the Marketing and sales departments of multiple companies (our non-profit, marketing company, solar company), while learning more about the solar and energy efficiency industry. At the end of the 9 months candidates that complete the course are given a management position. Pay coming out of the leadership development program starts at $100,000. Next Door is looking for the best of the best and pays candidates very well as they progress through the course. There are 6 benchmarks that take 1-2 months. The completion of each benchmark comes with increased pay. The leadership program is extremely challenging and only 30% of candidates are expected to reach all benchmarks. Candidates that fail to hit all benchmarks within the 9 months are either let go or offered a non-leadership position in the marketing department.
Responsibilities during the initial 8-week trial:
- Learn company mission, values and sales process
- Learn about the available solar and energy efficiency rebate programs
- Shadow mentor in the field to understand customer process-flow
- Work with teammates to execute marketing plan that effectively communicates to potential customers what solar and energy efficiency programs are available
- Demonstrate leadership abilities
- Convert prospects into consultations for your mentor
Next Door does not believe typical college courses are effective in developing leadership skills so candidates must have demonstrated the following:
- Leadership ability OUTSIDE the classroom or through non-traditional classes
- Previous work experience that involved communicating effectively to clients/potential clients
- Demonstrated ability to have a growth mindset
- Desire to do work that makes a positive impact
- Positive attitude
- Integrity
Must be above average in the following areas:
- Verbal communication
- Written communication
- Leadership ability
Next Door Worldwide is a charity that is on a mission to develop leaders in our community through meaningful work that truly makes a difference in people's lives.
This is done in 3 ways:
Make a dent in the single biggest killer of humans in the world today: water-borne disease. NDWW has committed to paying for a solar water farm that will provide access to clean water for up to 35,000 people per day in Kenya.
Help potential leaders in other parts of the world get access to better education. NDWW has committed to installing a solar system on a school in Nepal that currently does not have access to electricity or the internet.
Help future leaders here in our community obtain two of the most important leadership traits: experience and perspective. NDWW gives college students a platform where they can raise money for a meaningful cause...and then actually experience the impact of their hard work by traveling to Nepal and meeting the families in the village that they are helping. The experience of working on a team towards a noble goal combined with the experience of traveling to a 3rd world country and meeting the people that they are helping, will help our team members find their calling and make an even bigger impact when they get home.
Marketing Interns learn leadership and marketing through hands on work that actually makes an impact.
Next Door Worldwide is funded by Next Door Home Upgrades - Our solar and energy efficiency companyNDHU inspires homeowners to make better decisions when it comes to how they buy their electricity. We do this by connecting homeowners with programs that allow them to go green and save money without having to invest any money.
