POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the VP of Mission Advancement, the Marketing and Communications Associate supports the Marketing and Communication Annual plan and aids with a variety of communication functions to achieve and maintain favorable public awareness and support of the YMCA of Wichita Falls. Has the ability to communicate with traditional, innovative, and modern communication skills. Supports the design of relevant messaging, compelling visuals, and creative through a variety of communication channels. Provides support to branches on the Public Awareness aspects of programs, events, mission, brand, services, and policies. Works directly with the Marketing Director on a variety of communication projects including the story development of staff, members, program participants, donors, and volunteers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support Association’s communication goals and objectives.
- Assists with the implementation of a yearly communication plan for YMCA staff, volunteers, community leaders, donors that present the mission, brand, strategic goals and objectives.
- Works directly with the Marketing Director to collect the content for newsletters, letters, emails, strategic plans, and other communications.
- Assists with the creation of creative social media content to disseminate regularly over all platforms.
- Support the development and implementation of media releases, media alerts, media kits, public service announcements, and media events to present the YMCA to the media and the community.
- Assist in taking video and photographs and editing for use in print and digital marketing materials.
- Collaborates with leadership in supporting special events and strategic initiatives as needed, including community outreach, public programming, and sponsorship efforts.
- Attend social events to represent the Y.
- Actively engage with each branch to develop impact stories from members, volunteers, and staff. Attends branch events and remains knowledgeable of all programs and services.
- Supports mission advancement and volunteer initiatives.

Qualifications- Two-year degree in communication/marketing/public relations or related field.
- Functional knowledge of techniques and procedures used communications/public relations, journalism, or marketing/advertising fields.
- Must have a foundational understanding of social media platforms; corresponding rules/laws, news, and analytical tools.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Ability to write, edit, design, produce, and disseminate compelling, concise communications, including press releases and speeches using a variety of formats, including, print, electronic, audio, WordPress and video.
- Ability to communicate information effectively in writing to all levels of staff, management, and external audiences. Adept at forming and maintaining external relationships and networks.
- Understanding of the mission and cause of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
- Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities and achieve organizational objectives.
