Reports to: Quality manager
Requirements:
- Current enrollment in a Bachelors degree in Engineering
- Able to work autonomously
- Willing to be hands on with the product
- Willing to be on the floor for up to 75% of the day
- Comfortable meeting new faces and working cooperatively with hourly and salaried workforce
- Comfortable speaking up with concerns and suggestions
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Experience with an ERP system (Epicor, SAP, or similar) is a plus
- Ability to interpret engineering design drawings is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Inspect parts and components for quality defects
- Provide feedback to craftsmen responsible for defect
- Log quality concerns in company data base, while following predetermined format and meeting detail expectations
- Update daily metric board and report out to team in morning meeting
- Consolidate data to report out on most urgent areas of quality concerns to members of management
- Use hand inspection tools to determine quality of manufactured parts, components, and machines
- Pass or reject parts, components, and machines based on company quality standards with guidance from the Quality Manager
- Store and organize inspection documents
- As candidate becomes proficient in the above, they will be given a capstone project to complete by the end of their internship. Potential projects include:
o Perform Fabrication and Polish operation time study to achieve more accurate production time estimates
o Develop Maintenance Plan for machinery in shop to reduce unforeseen machine failures
