Job Description
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, or similar discipline.
- 7+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a goods manufacturing environment.
- Direct supervision experience.
- Working knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication processes.
- Project management and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD/Solidworks)
- Supervise daily activities of direct reports in support of custom production jobs, product value engineering projects and manufacturing continuous improvement efforts.
- Included in improvement ideas are the ergonomic/safety related concerns via product design improvements.
- Lead value analysis reviews of existing product lines to optimize cost/performance factors using the Legrand Way methodology.
- Generate make vs. buy analysis and lead implementation of changes to in house or outsourced production ensuring parts are produced with optimal quality and cost.
- Follow through on value engineering and continuous improvement projects through entire Engineering documentation process including change requests, change orders, notifications, etc.
- Confirm manufacturing viability and specifications and industry standards are met for custom products released to Production.
- Review bills of material, assembly drawings, routings, and other production support documentation to maintain accuracy. Work closely with Product Sustaining Engineering for changes and proposed improvements.
- Research, justify, and implement capital equipment for all manufacturing processes including metal fabrication, paint, and assembly.
- Duties include establishing and maintaining routine and preventative maintenance programs on all factory machines and facility equipment to ISO standards. This includes complete and thorough documentation and MTTR and MTBF metrics.
- Evaluates production equipment and facility mechanicals for useful life expectancy and recommends replacement or schedules maintenance.
