Position Description:
- Lead Vehicle on Wheels (VOW) and Body in Paint (BIP) water testing supported by product development functions, build site technician, and other production personnel.
- Prototype builds at New Model Product Development Center in Dearborn, Michigan.
- Pre-production builds at Oakville Electric Vehicle Center in Oakville, Ontario.
- Single point of contact (SPOC) for resolution of process and production tooling related water leak concerns.
- Interface with product teams in support of root cause and resolution of product related water management issues.
- Report out on water testing vehicle status to OEM new model launch management.
- Provide coaching for production personnel on processes and procedures related to water testing including providing instruction on vehicle preparation for testing.
- Support assembly implementation of sealing subsystem within final assembly including assembly feasibility, process, tooling, and workstation setup.
- Must be able to travel 25 - 80% from Dearborn (home base) to OEM plants, supplier location, or testing facilities out of state to support program launch.
- Time split between DCV builds located in Dearborn, MI, and pre-production builds on site at assembly plant in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
- Activities in Oakville will require extended travel.
- Must be eligible to work both in the United States and Canada.
- Strong time management, communication, analytical, interpersonal and organization skills
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles
- Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)
- Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints.
- Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
- 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)
- Knowledge in the following OEM software systems: WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIM/Jira
- 3+ years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing Engineering or in Automotive Body and Exterior Systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial, Manufacturing, or similar.
