Production Engineer Description
Our client in the wholesale building materials industry is looking for a hands-on Production Engineer to add to their team in Van Buren County, Michigan. In this role, you will support the manufacturing process by engaging in tasks ranging from prototyping to identifying cost savings/production improvement opportunities. The ideal candidate enjoys building prototypes and completing product testing and will be eager to split their time between office work and the production floor. Success in this role requires dedication, strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities, and the ability to convey engineering concepts in a simplified manner while training production team members. Production Engineer Responsibilities
• Support the manufacturing process and identify areas for continuous improvement
• Manage small-medium sized projects from conception to completion
• Produce product drawings and documentation
• Complete 2D and 3D CAD designs
• Design and build prototypes and fixtures
• Troubleshoot issues that arise and escalate as needed to the Senior Engineer
• Support with the development of product budgets
• Research and quote equipment or materials to support manufacturing efficiencies
• Maintain engineering documents in a shared database
• Complete and document precise measurements of products and components
• Train production staff on new processes developed by engineering
• Work on cost-saving initiatives and projects
• Support with new equipment acquisitions and installations
Production Engineer Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree is required
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience is required
• Proficiency with both 2D & 3D CAD is required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office required (Excel skills to include formulas)
• Ability to work 100% on-site is required
