Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center - Estes Engineering Center in Warren, Michigan, three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
We are interested in talking to self-motivated innovation minded Candidates possessing the ability to work collaboratively in the Virtual Engineering space specifically Model Based Manufacturing Systems Simulation and Emulation. As a Manufacturing Engineer - Virtual Engineering , you will be challenged to lead Virtual Simulation and Emulation efforts as well as evaluate, develop, standardize and deploy new Simulation, Emulation and XR Hardware and Software Utilities in support of GMs 100% Virtual efforts. This role plays a critical part in facilitating data-driven decision-making processes. Candidate will be responsible for Developing and or improving upon Standardized Processes utilizing various Virtual Tools to drive efficiencies into all Phases of the Equipment Sourcing and Project Execution Process.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the Storage and processing of Data on multiple Platforms facilitating accessibility, scalability, and collaboration.
- Work with Process Engineering Leads and Machine Tool Builders in the creation of virtual representations (digital twins) of physical manufacturing systems, allowing for simulation, testing, and real-time monitoring.
- Evaluate, Design and optimize Manufacturing Systems leveraging Teamcenter Manufacturing Process Planner, Process Simulate, Integrated Emulation and XR Utilities
- Support Central Lead MEs and IT Resources ensuring consistency in Simulation and Emulation Project implementation activities across the multiple Propulsion Programs and GM Manufacturing Engineering disciplines.
- Provide Technical Direction in the Investigation, Business Integration Testing and Deployment of new and Legacy Virtual Software and Hardware Utilities in support of GPS V@25 Initiatives
- Keeping up-to-date with advancements in process simulation technology, industry trends, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's in Engineering related discipline or equivalent experience.
- 10+ Years Experience in Manufacturing
- 5+ Years Practical Experience in Siemens PLM and CAD Systems (preferably NX)
- 3+ Years Practical Experience in Siemens Technomatix Process Simulate or equivalent
- Basic understanding of PLC and Robot Programming (preferably Fanuc)
- Exposure to Agile Philosophies and Tools
- Business Integration Testing
- Powertrain Component and Process Familiarity/experience
- Knowledge of data modeling and architecture
