POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive Vice President of Capital Markets position will be primarily responsible for raising institutional capital for to be formed GP, Closed-End and Opened Ended Funds, as well as for Separately Managed Accounts (“SMA”) and Co-Investment opportunities for discrete real estate developments and investments across the United States. Secondary functions of the position will include assisting with high net worth/family office capital raises and assisting in the scaling of our Investor Relations functions. This position will be responsible for growing the institutional investor client base in the United States and globally. This is a senior level position with at least 15 years of experience in real estate, capital formation and institutional fundraising.
Key Responsibilities:
- Immediate primary responsible for fund raising around a $500,000,000 closed-end real estate development fund
- Begin to form investor framework and strategy around future open-ended real estate funds and subsequent closed-end vehicles
- Together with the CFO, Co-CIO’s and existing Investor Relations Team continue to investigate, design, and implement scaled infrastructure for investor relations function incorporating expansion into institutional investors
- Develop strong understanding of McWhinney’s brand, track record and pipeline, and demonstrate the ability to speak to current and potential investors about the company and its projects
- Support or assume responsibility for management of certain existing investor relationships currently managed by Co-CIO
- Support CFO and Co-CIO in structuring and implementation of various real estate funds, SMA’s and co-investment vehicles
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers, key strategic partners, and clients. Develop specific client-relations programs
- Establish professional network and maintain contacts and records of activity in Company relationship management portal (Juniper Square)
- In coordination with Co-CIO and VP of Investor Relations, determine plans for company presence at conventions, annual meetings, industry events, and seminars
- In coordination with VP of Marketing and VP of Investor Relations, develop and recommend brand positioning for various capitalization including assisting with the creation of marketing materials for both the company, Funds, SMA’s and Co-Invest offerings
- Work with Legal to ensure appropriate polices and procedures are in place for institutional fundraising and disclosure.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate or related degree
- Fifteen (15+) years of raising capital for funds and real estate investments from Institutional Investors
- Demonstrated experience in institutional investment networks including, but not limited to endowments, pension funds, insurance companies, healthcare systems, sovereign wealth, ultra-high net worth family offices and fund-of-funds
- Demonstrated experience in private equity, commercial real estate and alternative assets
- Demonstrated expertise in selling various types of open-ended and closed-end fund structures
- Long-term investment mindset geared towards always meeting investor expectations
- Client/customer service-oriented approach
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think creatively, strategically, and analytically
- Experience with sophisticated customer relationship management systems and software
- Highly organized, and process driven individual with attention to detail
- Track record of working well as part of a team
- Experience following compliance protocols in a regulated financial industry
- Travel required
