From the exceptional service at the check-in counter to the departure gate, and even behind the scenes making sure your checked bags arrive with you, our Airport Operations team keeps operations at our airports running smoothly every single day.

Key Responsibilities:

The Ramp Managing Director at DEN is responsible for the overall financial, personnel and operational related functions, with a large emphasis on safety for the department. The leader provides results by establishing direction, aligning, influencing, and motivating employees. The leader is responsible for deploying technology to enhance customer service, improve efficiency and support strategic business objectives through development and motivation. The leader is also responsible for the department operating budget of $147 mil and approximately 2,500 employees.

A high-level overview of duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Develop and monitor all functions of related station activity within budgetary constraints and with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and all performance related metrics.
  • Lead Team to meet all targets including, but not limited to: MBR, BTC, TCI and D-00
  • Lead the performance improvement initiatives at DEN on the Ramp, cross-functional communication, and support of operational initiatives.
  • Develop and/or implement various short-term and long-term projects within budgetary constraints.
  • Participate in the design and drive the implementation of all projects that have impacts on our customers and employees.
  • Lead, direct, and supervise station organization to ensure outstanding Ramp Operations and NPS (Net Promoter Score)
  • Strategically plan the long-term development of the department and its personnel.
  • Provide quality control in all areas of responsibility, to include facilities, equipment, and BHS reliability.
  • Establish accountability measures that sustain standardized work practices and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Provides leadership and support to the department Leaders who have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation.
  • Must be actively involved in airport/local community.
  • All Domestic and International Ramp Operations
  • All Baggage Operations: Bag Rooms, Online, Interline and Inbound Baggage Delivery for the department.
  • FOH (Front of the House) Baggage Movement
  • Departmental GSE
  • Departmental Administration
  • Departmental Training
  • Departmental Safety
  • Equipment Rooms
  • Operational planning and safe implementation of all ground handling activities
  • Strategically plan the long-term development of department operations.
  • Business/Employee relationship development to include Government Agencies, Airport Authorities and Business Partners
  • Collaborating with department leaders and peers.
  • Management and frontline development
  • Continuously improve communication with all levels to increase employee engagement and improve Pulse scores.
  • Supports talent management and succession planning.
  • Drives United’s Core4 initiatives.
  • Responsible for implementing training programs (i.e. mandatory, recurrent and ad-hoc).
  • This is an onsite role at Denver.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • 10+ years of operations experience
  • Organizational Change experience with the ability to lead and sustain continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills
  • Direction and development of management team, as well as ability to engage frontline Team Leader and Ramp Service Employee population.
  • Leadership Development Skills
  • Affect leadership quality and retention in the Director, Senior Manager and Hub Manager ranks.
  • Business Administration/Organizational Acumen
  • Successful candidates must be able to clear a criminal history check to acquire and retain credentials vital for the position.
  • Specific clearances include but are not limited to FAA / TSA / Airport Authority / US Customs
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications.
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position.

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Extensive experience in leading station ramp, cargo & mail, deicing and dispatch operations.
  • Excellent employee and union relations as well as experience administering union contracts.
  • Experience in relationship building with government agencies and business partners.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and presentation.
  • Proven leadership ability in large departmental environment
  • Strong intuition for business
