At Meta, Mission Control is the organization responsible for end-to-end Workforce Planning, technical onboarding and resource allocations for all departments. In this role, our planners help the business proactively drive their workforce strategies and anticipate and solve talent supply and demand challenges. Further, they manage the day-to-day operations of headcount management.This is a people manager opportunity within the Workforce Planning team within Mission Control. The manager will lead a team consisting of Workforce Planning business partners aligned to one or more business pillars or functions. The planners are responsible for delivering workforce insights, facilitating headcount processes such as annual headcount allocations, driving reorganization efforts, and handling workforce management escalations. This manager will also have some individual contributor responsibility aligned to one or more business pillars as a main planning business partner. This manager will work closely with cross-functional teams and leaders, most frequently with Finance, Recruiting, and HR and have direct interaction with business leaders across several business groups. This manager will be accountable for formulating the overall headcount planning strategy for the areas in which they lead; assessing needs and opportunities with the pillars, prioritizing efforts, and directing team activities. This manager must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to influence at an executive level, and the ability to “tell the workforce story” to leaders will be critical for success.The role will report directly to the head of Mission Control.
- Manage and maintain a high performing team which includes hiring, mentoring and developing team members
- Develop and maintain a scalable organization with a well-documented roadmap, goals and objectives
- Define the overall Workforce Planning strategy including business and cross-functional stakeholder engagement model and prioritized improvement opportunities
- Direct team headcount planning activities including annual headcount allocations, monthly contingency cycles, and supply & demand reconciliation activities
- Empower the team to define and document the end-to-end business processes currently used and identify where and how tooling solutions will aid with streamlining and scaling the process
- Lead change management processes, like supply/demand planning and workforce reconciliation
- Understand, collaborate and influence across cross-functional organizations
- Enjoys “telling the story” to customers about what is happening in their workforce
- Approximately 10% travel required
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA / BS degree, or equivalent experience in Finance, Workforce Planning, Operations, Project Management, or other related work experience
- 7+ years of Workforce Planning / management, or equivalent experience
- Experience being a thought leader within the organization and someone who can help internal solution strategy globally and challenge others in the organization to change
- Analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational experience
- Experience in development of a team, and in personnel management and staffing
- Experience in working with, influencing, and presenting to executive leadership including C-suite level leaders
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or other advanced degree
- 7+ years experience managing senior program managers and managing global teams
- 5+ years of experience working in the tech industry or other fast-paced environments
- Proven experience to think customer-first with deep appreciation for the customer mindset
- Successful track record in building strategies and solutions to meet customer needs
