About this role:
Manage the advance planning, budgeting, vendor coordination and operational execution for the U.S. Open Championship. Direct all onsite construction and logistics, facilitating relationships between vendors, USGA personnel and host site.
What you'll do:
- Manage relationship with key host site contacts. Establish impact timelines to coincide with agreed upon site space usage. Facilitate daily communication between host site and vendors during construction period. Oversee and execute successful property remediation following the conclusion of the Championship.
- Conduct RFP process for various championship services. Coordinate with USGA Procurement to properly negotiate, select vendors to support the event and execute contracts. Develop and manage U.S. Open operations budget. Work with USGA finance team to settle all payments, invoices and billbacks following conclusion of the championship.
- Oversee project execution for a group of key U.S. Open vendors including but not limited to grandstands, bridges, power and temperature control, fueling, temporary roadways, floors and tenting structures, carpentry, ecology, telecom and TV/AV.
- Lead communication and collaboration effort for U.S. Open Operations team during assigned championship year, specifically when U.S. Open is at a west coast venue.
- With host site superintendent and other representatives, facilitate advance site prep work required to support the championship footprint. When applicable, evaluate benefits for work associated with anchor site property including but not limited to: roadways/compounds, power, conduits, water, tree plantings/removals, range net, and other hardscape renovations.
- Support Senior Director, U.S. Open Championship and site planning consultant with on-site inspections and surveying for proposed championship site plan.
- With Director, U.S. Open Construction, develop construction timeline. Oversee all onsite vendor activity, tracking progress against agreed upon timeline. Manage championship facility construction, including final pre-event punch lists.
- Hire and onboard crew of U.S. Open interns. Develop intern training checklist and oversee daily intern projects. Manage the intern crew through the championship and post-event tear down process.
- With Director, U.S. Open Construction, identify and execute required permitting through local municipalities. Utilize local consultants to advise and, if necessary, complete the event permitting. Coordinate with village personnel for necessary onsite inspections and compile documentation from championship vendors, as requested.
- Facilitate communication between key U.S. Open stakeholders including championship staff, vendors and host site contacts. Host meetings including bi-annual vendor planning sessions and weekly onsite vendor meetings during the construction period.
Where you'll be:
Position will temporarily be located in Pinehurst, NC, until July 31, 2024, at which time permanent relocation to Pebble Beach, CA, will be required.
What you bring:
Experience with ArcGIS platform or other CAD/GIS planning software
Expertise in golf event operations and logistics
Ability to manage event operations and vendor scopes within budget parameters
Strong leadership capabilities
Proficient and efficient communicator
Precise attention to details and adherence to timelines
