Job description

At Disney Theatrical Group we strive to create a culture of innovation, inclusion, collaboration, and creativity. Stories shape how we see ourselves and everyone around us. As storytellers, we have the power to not only uplift and inspire, but also to champion the spectrum of voices in our world. If you want to help tell compelling, diverse, and enduring stories through live theater, we want to hear from you.

Disney Theatrical Productions is seeking a Manager, Technical Production reporting to the Director, Technical Production. In this role, you will support the technical needs of ongoing domestic and international productions.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Director, Technical Production with development of new productions and other projects as directed.
  • Function as point of contact for certain existing productions with regards to on-going operations, with a view towards improving efficiency and future-proofing long-running productions.
  • Stand-in for Director, Technical Production when unable to be present (meetings, shop visits, venue surveys, load-ins, etc).
  • Understand, review and create written and verbal project briefs, including review and interpretation of drawings to assure all technical and creative specifications are met (including technical specifications, technical riders, design reviews, etc).
  • Extensive involvement in on-going efforts to document existing productions and improve on overall archival initiatives.
  • Assist with training and recruitment of new technical team staff members.
  • Liaise with design team, technicians, managers, and other stakeholders in support of above mandates.
  • Continue to develop and expand on Disney’s vendor database.
  • Take the lead in certain R&D projects, technical equipment demonstrations, etc as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director, Technical Production.

Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in large commercial musicals, particularly on touring productions with tight schedules.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (and ideally Vectorworks).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other scheduling tools (e.g. MS Project).
  • Ability to handle multiple mandates concurrently, prioritize appropriately, and deliver an appropriate finished product, within time restrictions and other constraints.
  • Ability to travel regularly (domestically and internationally), typically for 2-3 weeks at a time, exceptionally up to 2 months.
  • Excellent communication skills for a variety of collaborators.
  • Commitment to actively being part of and supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Demonstrates inclusive behavior and maintains a safe and professional working environment that fulfills Disney Theatrical Group’s diversity and inclusion efforts (e.g., participates in equity, diversity & inclusion, anti-harassment, and any other anti-bias training and workshops as required etc.).

DTG is committed to providing the highest quality opportunities for the widest, most diverse group of talented professionals throughout their career trajectory. We encourage applications from individuals whose backgrounds are currently underrepresented in the field of theater, inclusive of race, ethnicity, class, gender identity or expression, disability status, and sexual orientation.
