Dolby's consumer entertainment and cinema businesses are bringing Dolby's breakthrough technologies, powering the world's top movies, TV shows, music, games, and live sports to more places around the world across a wider range of consumer experiences and devices.
Reporting to the Director of Technical Operations, you will be part of the team that promotes and provides services to support Dolby's content formats. This includes the creation of content in-house and assisting the industry to establish efficient workflows to create and distribute Dolby enabled content. Dolby also operates two Los Angeles area screening rooms where filmmakers and industry professionals can create and showcase their work.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Direct oversight of Los Angeles area Technical Operations, including both technical infrastructure and personnel
- Burbank and Hollywood screening room operations
- Content encoding and packaging for digital cinema distribution
- Content QC
- Content replication and delivery
- KDM generation
- Maintain the organizational structure of filesystems
- Assist in the archiving of all required content
- Design, build, and maintain LA based labs (theatres, demo spaces, project studios, QC rooms)
- Liaise with suppliers and support service providers as required for equipment
- Audio Architect programming
- Crestron programming
- Work alongside team members to ensure timely response to partner inquiries
- Interact with partners for technical guidance as it relates to their use of our screening rooms and labs
- Carry out playback support for content which Dolby has created, or in which Dolby has a vested interest for successful playback
- Host demos for partners showcasing Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos content
- Interact professionally with internal and external partners, in person and via email
- Keep up with industry standards and streamline content creation practices
- On an ad hoc basis, help define technical and creative projects, monitor them and bring them to a satisfactory conclusion
- Perform other duties as required by management
Knowledge:
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant audio/video industry experience
- 3+ years managing a post-production operations team
- A technical understanding of digital cinema and accompanying workflows is important
- A technical understanding of audio/video hardware & software systems is important
Skills:
- Great communication skills that enable the ability to convey complex technical ideas and present them to internal and external partners
- Creative abilities to execute content for Cinema needs
- Adaptability with a changing work environment and changing priorities
Abilities:
- During high volume workload periods, the role will require the ability to work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines and manage workflows accordingly
- Comprehensive understanding of digital cinema content creation tools
PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- On occasions overtime may be required to meet deadlines

The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $118,000 - 142,000, which can vary if outside this location, plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
