Job Description
The Manager of Facilities Operations, (Manager) will collaborate with the Director of Facilities to manage the day-to-day operations of custodial, grounds and building maintenance activities. The Manager will participate in the development, recommendation, and administration of policies, procedures, and processes in support of departmental operations, respond to inquiries and requests for service from Callen-Lordes departments and supervises administrative services and technical/support staff for all sites. The Manager will also schedule, assign, review, and supervise the work of all employees in Facilities department for the maintenance and repair of all sites, buildings, grounds, custodial and equipment; and does related work as required. The Manager will also oversee the care and cleaning of buildings and lease spaces; the operation of heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems (HVAC); plumbing and electrical systems; roofing, building envelope and interior maintenance of Callen-Lords sites. Works collaboratively with sites Director to establish, maintain and update Callen-Lorde facilities standards as needed. Assists the Facility Operations Director, with providing facilities and operational input on major/minor capital projects, design and on remodel-improvement projects, including working closely with vendors, engineers, and architects in the specification development stages of these projects.
Education, Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Administration, or a related building construction field and/or relevant experience required
- Five years’ experience with managing building operations of custodial, grounds, and maintenance
- Three plus years of supervisory experience
- Current Fire Life Safety Director certificate or obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Experience managing facilities in a healthcare setting preferred

- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

Our History
Callen-Lorde’s grassroots heritage dates back 50 years to the St. Marks Clinic and the Gay Men’s Health Project – two volunteer-based clinics that provided safe and confidential sexual health and primary care regardless of ability to pay. These clinics merged in 1983 to form Community Health Project, a mostly volunteer-staffed, episodic care program housing the nation’s first community-based HIV clinic.
