QC Terme is the leading Italian wellness provider, with 6 spas and 4 spa resorts worldwide. Nine of the spas are located in Italy, and the company opened the first spa outside of Italy in 2018 in Chamonix, France. The first Spa in the US, opened March 2022 on Governors Island.

QC Terme spas are experiential destination day spas that are typically fit-out in historical buildings but can be built from the ground up, in unique locations with beautiful views. The spas feature various forms of hydro therapeutic, thermal, and sense-stimulating pools that encompass about 30-35 experiences per spa.

QC NY is seeking a passionate, sincere, Part Time Facilities Operations Assistant, who is able to work a flexible morning schedules Monday thru Wednesday around 8am - 4pm. Our beautiful NY Spa is located on Governors Island only 8 minutes by ferry. We offer free transport via ferry to the Island.

Job Summary:

The Facilities Operations Assistant will provide support to the Operations team with maintenance of the Spa. The Facilities Operations Assistant will be responsible for basic repairs such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, minor electrical repairs as well as courier and messenger duties. The Facilities Operations Assistant will ensure that the Spa is well maintained and meets all safety requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs minor maintenance problems to include, but may not be limited to; electrical, plumbing, carpentry, flooring, machinery equipment.
  • Perform a variety of routine building maintenance tasks such as unclogging toilets and sinks and changing light bulbs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance - repairs and painting - on an on-going basis.
  • Support space changes including office, furniture, and equipment moves as directed by Spa Director.
  • Partner and support Operations on preparing the Spa for special events, including set up and breakdown.
  • Manage package arrivals and retrievals from Manhattan side of Governors Island Ferry.
  • Undertake courier/messenger duties as requested.
  • Maintain inventory by tracking and ordering all supplies/parts necessary for the maintenance of the Spa.
  • Assist with the organization & maintenance of Spa’s storage and closet spaces.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to work with tools arid test instruments required.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems: electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve problems and make decisions while working in stressful situations required.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, including the ability to comprehend equipment instruction/service manuals and drawings required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with a variety of customers.
  • Ability to perform routine preventative maintenance functions required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Availability when Spa is open: This could include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Customer service oriented, prompt, efficient, and committed to quality.
  • Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in general maintenance, mechanical, plumbing, electrical field.
  • Spa experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • The Facilities Operations Assistant will be subject to dust, noise, fumes, and odors. The Facilities Operations Assistant will be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions. Safety equipment will be provided where needed and required to be worn or used.
  • The physical activity of this position includes, but is not limited to: climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting and sitting.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times and use ladders up to 30 ft.
