Manager, High End Business Development

About the role:
CHANEL is looking for a Manager of High-End Business Development to join our Watches & Fine Jewelry (WFJ) Division in New York to grow and develop the High Jewelry and Haute Horlogerie business at CHANEL. You will play a leading role in managing product movement and allocation for High Jewelry within the US. You will support in managing and evolving CHANEL's High-End client program, engaging with teams at all levels and departments across the organization as well as directly with top clientele. A high level of collaboration is required with cross-functional teams to service boutique needs and client requests while simultaneously supporting new collection launches and reaching overall financial objectives. This role interfaces predominantly with our boutique teams and Global High-End Business Development partners. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience, a passion for client service, is relationship focused, and has experience in the luxury sector.
What Impact You Can Create at CHANEL:
Product:
  • Act as liaison between the US and Global High-End Business Development teams to manage client requests and the inbound and outbound movement of international transfers.
  • Manage High-End model stock, partnering with visual merchandising, boutique leadership and sales associates to maintain boutique assortments from a visual perspective and ensure proper assortments to support market and client needs.
  • Develop tailored assortments for US High-End events and client treatment opportunities.
  • Regularly analyze the High Jewelry and Haute Horlogerie business, identifying opportunities, challenges and business needs and developing solutions to help grow sales and drive client conversion and retention.
  • Analyze sales by product segmentation and price point, implementing strategies to drive sales based on analysis.
  • Work closely with Customs Compliance team to ensure accuracy on all High-End proformas prior to shipping internationally.
  • Run inventory and sales reports, analyzing stock to sales ratio, and request replenishment from our global counterparts to maximize opportunities and drive sales and image.
  • Manage Ultimate Platform database, recording client data and inputting client requests.
  • Partner with PR regarding all High-End product loans for press features and editorial shoots.
  • Partner with WFJ Marketing team to ensure all High-End pricing is aligned globally and accurately represented across all platforms that are boutique and client facing.

Aftersales:
  • Partner with the Operations, Aftersales, and WFJ Service Center to ensure all High-End inventory is well maintained, product is sent to internal boutiques and external markets on time, and ETAs for client appointments and High-End events are met.
  • Partner with the WFJ Service Center on High-End product repairs, ensuring all High-End product is fixed in a timely manner, minimizing lead-time, and identifying defective pieces/product issues.

Events:
  • Assist in entertaining and engaging VIC clients during events and supporting sales associates during High-End selling ceremonies.
  • Partner with CRM and Group Director, High End Development to analyze sales and client behaviors following events and develop action plans to grow sales and ROI.
  • Partner with CRM & Group Director, High-End Development to implement effective client strategies to ensure we are maintaining and developing existing high-end clients through CRM, interpreting, and utilizing data to improve and propose change.

Education:
  • Educate and inspire the boutique teams, regularly conducting team meetings, ensuring staff is aware of business strategies and fundamentals, operational procedures, collection launches, sales tools and client experiences and engagement strategies.
  • Partner WFJ Education team to develop and implement coaching and training plan for High-End.

What you will bring to the team:
  • A distinct point of view and solution-oriented mindset. We are looking for someone who is performance-minded, diplomatic yet persuasive and who can support and evolve High Jewelry initiatives in a landscape that is in constant change.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the supply chain including planning, forecasting sales, inventory management and distribution.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including presentation skills to small and large groups, as well as the ability to communicate with internal and external teams and clients.
  • An understanding of VIC client socio-cultural nuances from market to market across the US and ability to adapt strategy accordingly.
  • An understanding of how to leverage data analytics to implement actionable strategies and solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to think creatively when analyzing the business.
  • Ability to deliver tight deadlines while being detail oriented.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment with self-motivated mentality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and database systems and have aptitude to learn technical applications quickly.

Position Logistics:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Must be able to work independently and transparently, possessing the judgment to provide frequent and concise management updates to US and Global teams.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility in working within a continually evolving and demanding environment.
  • Minimum 5 years minimum of luxury fashion experience.
  • Ability for domestic and/or international travel, approximately 20%.
  • Position is based out of New York Corporate Headquarters.

Compensation:
  • The anticipated base salary range for this position is $47,400 through $110,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.

  • Fully Remote: Role can be conducted from home office, may require occasional travel and/or visits to corporate offices/points of sales.
  • Partially Remote: Role requires a minimum of three-days in-person office presence at the designated location/office.

Partially Remote:
  • Fragrance & Beauty Field, Fashion Regionals, etc.:Requires in-store presence to develop and coach teams, ensure boutique image and operational standards are upheld and support and create an elevated client experience. Eligible for flex time use.

Workplace Essential:
  • Boutique Management:Requires in-store presence to develop and coach teams, ensure boutique image and operational standards are upheld, and deliver elevated client service to drive business results.
  • Front of House Fashion: Full-time in-store and in-person presence required to support client sales and client service deliver elevated client service to drive business results.
  • Heart of House: Requires in-store presence to facilitate the opening and closing of the boutique; the receiving of inventory; shipping of product to support sales to ensure optimal client service.
