The ideal candidate for the Digital Content Manager position possesses a strong writing background, exceptional content creation skill, and an understanding of Corporate Communications. The Digital Content Manager is responsible for creating engaging, high-quality content for Houston First’s digital channels, including corporate website, social media, email newsletters and other communications. The goal of this content is to further position HFC as the leading provider of business intelligence for our industry and further engage our constituents and stakeholders. This position works closely with the VP of Corporate Communications and Director of Research to create and disseminate timely, robust and engaging content on a weekly basis.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate across the organization and with the Corporate Comms team to deliver consistent content relevant to Houston First Corporation (HFC) audiences. Lead the development of a content calendar to ensure key events, reports and other content are captured.
- Write and post various pieces of content including white papers, blog posts, social media posts, short videos, email communications etc
- Support the creation of other HFC materials such as annual summary book, corporate collateral, executive remarks etc.
- Develop a strong understanding of the operations of the organization to identify subjects for content within the organization. Conduct interviews and create content around these interviews including blog posts, videos etc
- In collaboration with the broader team, identify subjects within the broader hospitality community to share interesting stories about those impacting the industry.
- Actively manage corporate social media channels including LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter) and others
- Develop a paid strategy to increase followers and engagement on key social media channels.
- Work in collaboration with HFC Marketing/Graphic Design teams to develop certain image and video focused content.
- Monitor, analyze and report on the performance of content on a regular basis.
- Remain abreast of the latest digital technologies and platforms and recommend new strategies for improving content creation and distribution.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position does not currently have any direct reports.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or other related discipline.
- 2-3 years of hands-on writing and content management for a company or organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong writing ability
- Knowledge of how to turn ideas into compelling content, with provable experience and examples to illustrate this competency.
- Understanding of how to use various mediums to properly illustrate a story, including written words, images, video and other content types.
- Skilled in creating both long-form content (white papers and reports) and quick, real-time content (blog and social media posts)
- Strong project management skills to properly manage various editorial schedules and deadlines.
- Experience with photography is a plus, but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Strong knowledge of social media tools such as Hootsuite and Sprout Social.
- Excitement and passion about placemaking and storytelling. and passionate about Houston.
- Excellent verbal, written, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
