01/08/2024DEFINITION: Under general supervision, maintains and repairs electrical systems and performs routine building maintenance repairs for Sunnyside Unified School District.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Maintains and repairs electrical areas of the building; inspects, tests and analyzes malfunctions of equipment and systems; troubleshoots, dismantles, remodels, repairs, reassembles and installs controllers, relays, sensors and switches on assigned equipment and systems; repairs, maintains and retrofits electrical systems, fire alarms, public address systems and telephone systems; repairs vandalism or storm damage to buildings and grounds.
Performs preventative maintenance on emergency generators, transfers switches, uninterruptible power systems and exhaust fans; performs safety inspection on vehicle and adds fluids as needed; coordinates essential functions of new construction and electrical repairs with other trade personnel; trouble shoots failures in electrical systems up to 480 volts, assesses repair of replacement requirements and makes recommendation to supervisor for in house crew, outside contractor or other trade shop work order; constructs installs and modifies electrical services and circuits in accordance with prepared specifications and the national and local electrical codes; utilizes office equipment such as telephone, computer, printer and copier; operates a standard or automatic transmission motor vehicle; performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Knowledge of maintenance manuals and maintenance techniques.
Knowledge of lighting systems of 277 & 120 volts, H.D Lighting, Fluorescent lighting and A, B Systems
Knowledge of commercial/industrial electrical systems; maintenance and repair of transformers and power distribution systems of 3 phase, 208 and 408 volts.
Knowledge of electrical code.
Skill in the safe operation of power tools, hand tools, saws and other maintenance equipment.
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in following safety rules and regulations, including the use of proper protective equipment.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent driving, standing, walking, bending and lifting. May be exposed to moving equipment and hand tools, extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes and chemicals, harmful dust and air particles and infectious diseases. Work at heights 10 feet or more above the ground.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Four (4) years of trade maintenance experience in electrical, plumbing field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must possess an Arizona driver license.
Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
Salary Grade: M Hourly Pay: $21.60 Hours per Day: 8 Days:260 Start Date: 2023/2024 School Year
