Job description

Promote and maintain the utmost integrity and the highest caliber customer service to all

patrons/employees of Harrah’s Hoosier Park. To provide efficient and effective management supervision

in the maintenance of buildings and equipment.

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: Facility Maintenance Worker(s), Senior Maintenance Technician

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Report to work fit and ready to work on time daily as scheduled. Checks schedule daily to learn of any changes necessary to accommodate unplanned business conditions.
  • Communicates with supervisor or Department Head regarding any and all needs affecting work performance, completion of duties, attendance and guest service.
  • As directed, properly uses time keeping equipment and systems to record all time worked. Adheres to posted schedule and as adjusted by the manager, relating to work hours, breaks, and duty schedule or station/duty assignments.
  • Read, understand, and practice all policies and procedures as outlined in the Team Member Handbook. Asks for assistance if unable to read or understand any items contained in the handbook. Takes appropriate action to report any policy violations or problems as outline the handbook, either to the supervisor/manager.
  • Make suggestions to appropriate supervisor/manager regarding any suggestions for improving guest service, department, or job efficiency.
  • Reports to Manager any items requiring maintenance or repair. Pays particular attention to safety related matters and reports such items immediately. If dangerous, take precautions to prevent injury until help arrives to respond to the situation. (Example: An open, raised carpet seam in a busy walkway in which someone might catch his/her foot and fall).
  • Reports to manager, supervisor, and Security Officer any incidents involving illness or injury to self or others, and any accidents or onset of illness incidents witnessed involving guests or other team members.
  • Responsible to maintain confidentiality of all matter regarding guest, team members and the business operations.
  • Required to cooperate with Company officials during an investigation.
  • Follows proper procedures for lost and found of personal items, found money or gaming tokens.(Contact Security Officer).
  • All related job duties as requested, even if not part of the regular job description, particularly if it affects safety of any individual and/or guest service.
  • Establishes quality standards and work procedures for the maintenance staff and plans work schedules to ensure adequate maintenance.
  • Ensures that all maintenance personnel are kept aware of established standards and work procedures and answers any questions concerning them.
  • Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of buildings and equipment to ensure that established maintenance standards are consistently met.
  • Plans and directs the work schedules, assignment of duties and priorities within the Facilities section to ensure that deadlines are met and satisfactory service is evident at all times.
  • Responds promptly to emergency situations and ensures that services is restored, either temporarily or permanently, with minimum delay.
  • Responsible for ensuring the security and proper maintenance of all equipment and property assigned to the section from loss, misuse or falling into a state of disrepair. Ensures that all malfunctions and deficiencies are properly reported and corrected in a timely manner.
  • Initiates, develops, and implements procedures to ensure the proper and safe operation of all equipment.
  • Prepares and submits required budgets based on projected costs and needs. Reviews budgets on a regular basis to ensure objectives are met.
  • Makes recommendations to the Facilities Manager for improvements and purchase of new equipment.
  • Develops sketches as required and costs out projects. Makes recommendations to the Facilities Manager concerning the most efficient and cost-effective means to accomplish the project to attain the required results.
  • Maintains professional skills by reading trade publications on products and maintenance techniques.
  • Investigates new and improved maintenance equipment.
  • Ensures that an adequate supply of material is available at all times to meet daily operational requirements.
  • Supervises and trains maintenance personnel.
  • Takes corrective action in cases of improper or unsatisfactory performance where employee consultation is required.
  • Hears grievances, counsels, and advises employees and reports action taken to the Facilities Manager.
  • Ensures that employees are kept aware of company policies.
  • Prepares work schedules and ensures minimum personnel utilization to efficiently operate the section. Assures that any overtime is necessary and unavoidable. Verifies the accuracy of time sheets.
  • Prepares required reports and maintains operational and administrative records.
  • Performs normal supervisory duties and other duties as assigned by management.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:

College degree, mechanical or electrical preferred. Minimum of five years of experience. Needs executive ability, knowledge of all trades, business and management training, general knowledge of construction. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and designs, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and structural.


Technical skills in the field of administrative housekeeping. Requires knowledge of chemicals, staff planning, payroll, purchasing, decorating, equipment records, budgeting, inventories, lost and found, carpeting floors of all types, i.e. asphalt, concrete, etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be able to obtain and maintain a License from the Indiana Gaming Commission and the Indiana Horse Racing Commission. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
