Job Description
SUMMARY: Maintain building in a clean and safe manner; including upkeep of building, and systems, ensure timely repair of equipment or building damage. All tasks will be completed under the supervision of the Director of Facilities at our locations in Manhattan and the Bronx.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Move furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning and care functions, addition to movement of program from one location to the another.
- Remove and replace light fixtures and replace bulbs as necessary.
- May set up equipment for all locations as needed.
- Repair wall damage and paint interior areas as needed.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as, unstopping toilets, sinks, bathtubs, etc.
- Install locks as requested.
- On a routine basis, inspect building and equipment and report any needed
repairs and/or maintenance to Director, Facilities & Maintenance Management.
- Perform light carpentry tasks as necessary.
- Remove and repair/replace floor damage and replace floor tiles as needed.
- Maintain weekly maintenance work orders and report back to supervisor weekly.
- Ensure regular disposal of garbage as needed.
- Installation and removal of Air Conditioner units.
- Carry out all policies of the agency issued by management in accordance with OPWDD and/or other funding agency guidelines.
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High school diploma or GED, with at least (2) years of work experience in building maintenance. Knowledge of carpentry, electricity and plumbing preferred.
